Derwent House, Sheffield

Stonehouse worked alongside the client’s Administrator and Architect over a 23-week period to deliver a CAT A multi-floor refurbishment.

The Brief

The aim was to create a modern Grade A office space at Derwent House in the heart of Sheffield City Centre. This comprised of a full strip out and refurbishment in order to breathe new energy into what was outdated workspace and re-establish Derwent House as one of Sheffield’s most prestigious office buildings.

The Design Concept

This project required a keen focus on the people utilising the building; and flexibility so the resulting space delivered on these key objectives.
Following a concept created by the architect and in-depth consultations, we set to work to develop the design further to create a beautifully finished business space in line with our client's vision.

What We Delivered

This project saw an internal fit-out of the visitor reception, breakout and lobby areas, and new office suites. Work included the re-cladding of the external building and the creation of a new entrance.

Now when visitors enter Derwent House, they are welcomed with a bright and airy open plan lobby complete with a bespoke reception desk manufactured from Corian and exotic timbers that creates an elegant but hard-wearing focal point.

The lobby area is punctuated with hand-made bespoke coffee tables and seating finished in soft gold and grey tones, to provide pockets of informal space and complement the surrounding area.

Taking inspiration from the bustling city centre; stylish LED lighting hangs down to create a warming ambience. Communal areas have been re-designed to catch the eye with vibrant gold perforated pyramid ceiling panels, offset against a true grey ceiling. These focal-points provide additional lighting and create an interesting talking point.

Ultra-modern bathrooms, shower rooms, locker rooms and bike stores have been created, ready to be used by potential tenants.

This was a rewarding challenge for the Stonehouse team. The finished result being a high-end workspace - truly befitting of its professional occupants, both now and in the future.
